Overview

A bridge between cultures, faiths, and generations in the heart of Catania.

Our Roots

A crossroads of cultures and spirituality

With the signing of the protocol between AreaSud, the Archdiocese of Catania, and the International Sacred Music Festival of Pordenone in November 2024, the Festival Mediterraneo di Musica Sacra was launched: an artistic and cultural event that held its first edition in May 2025. It is not just a concert series, but a vibrant space designed to respond to deep cultural and social needs.

The project brings together diverse entities, united by the desire to build a better world. The working model is based on a network open to new public and private partnerships.

Our Mission

Dialogue and Understanding

We promote an authentic encounter among artists, scholars, and institutions. Through the sacred music repertoires cultivated within the Mediterranean basin, the festival serves as a tool to foster deeper understanding and peaceful dialogue between different cultures and faiths.

Artistic Synergy

We create a solid network among musicians and performers dedicated to the production and dissemination of sacred musical heritage, highlighting both our common roots and the unique characteristics of each tradition.

Youth at the Center

A foundational aspect of our project is the education of new generations. We aim to inspire and support young people who wish to work in the cultural sector by offering them the opportunity to be directly involved in the organization and artistic production.

Eco-sustainability

Our Commitment to the Environment

Sustainability is a value we deeply believe in. Following a training program for our staff, the first edition of the Festival in 2025 obtained the Eco Certified Event certification (created by Ambiente e Salute under the supervision of Legambiente Nazionale). Today, that legacy and those 115 best practices modeled on the 2030 Agenda remain ingrained in our “organizational DNA,” continuing to guide our logistical and production choices out of respect for the territory that hosts us.
